Donkeys are easy to please, calm, and confident animals. They don't usually run, but with their small hooves they can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h.
The domestic donkey is descended from the African wild ass. It tolerates high temperatures well and is not a picky eater. It is often considered stubborn and foolish when it stops for no apparent reason and refuses to move. However, this is not true. Donkeys cannot run as fast as horses, so it would be absurd for them to flee in panic when faced with danger. What they do is first assess whether they are truly in danger, and if so, analyze the best escape route.
